All-Glass Tanks (opinions sought)

Well, in case the purchase of the Oceanic 125 falls through, I have found an alternative 125 I'm considering. I have heard mixed reviews on All-Glass brand tanks in larger sizes.

Anyone have any opinions, hearsay or horror stories about the All-Glass tanks? I'm wondering how big the difference in quality is between the two.

Many thanks!

AGA and Oceanic are the same company now. So I'm not sure how much difference there is anymore. FWIW I've been very happy with my aga 90 gallon tank/stand.

Really? I hadn't realized the two companies merged. Hopefully that means better quality overall.

I've sent an email asking how old the tank is that is for sale. Its already setup so defintely no leaks which is a good sign. The selling point between the two now is the stand. I really like the other stand better on the Oceanic, but this one is decent too.

Thanks for posting!

We have a used All-Glass 135g tank. I believe it was used for several years prior to us setting it up. It seems fine. We even had it drilled for overflows before we added water. Check to make sure the plastic framing is in good shape especially around the top.

Great advice. Thanks saltyunderground.

That is the problem I had with my used 55g. I think its a Perfecto. Someone appears to have had an accident with very hot lamps because the crossbar was partially melted. It finally cracked, so now I am in the market for a new tank - well, I was going to upgrade anyway, so no loss. ;) It gives me a good excuse to get a bigger tank.

I just want to make sure I get something that will last with more gallons to deal with. I'm sure the 6 floors below me will appreciate my concern.

You don't have any weight concerns with the larger tank? Are you in an apartment? If so, do you need to check if you can go bigger, or have you already done that?

No weight concerns - I live in a high rise loft building with cement floors. But you bring up a good point. I'm trying to negotiate with my landlords at the moment because they think it may damage the hardwood floors. Grrr.. I really need to just buy a house.

Thanks for bringing me back to reality. Renting = no fun

I have concrete floors in my loft too... they are awesome. I never really worry about spilling h2o. Which loft are you in?
