All in one bio pellets

Hello every one so from my understanding to run the bio pellets you should have nitrate and phosphate in ur tank so the Bactria will kick it in and then those levels will drops ?? Any one have another ideas

So it will be like that I have vertex bio pellets reactor with high flow pump
I will put those bio pellets for 24 hour in aquarium water then put them in the reactor ( before that I will wait tell my phosphate and nitrate will go up ) then I will start the process and I will start with half of the amount then after I will add the second half . Any one have any recommendation ?? Any ideas ??

Thanks in advance

I'd do a search! there's lots of info on this on reef central.

I've only used vinegar for carbon dosing but from my understanding you don't need to be very careful with the "dose" of biopellets. i think you can pretty much just add whatever the recommended amount on the label is for your tank size and nutrient levels. good luck!

Already did my research and that what I got
If I have high nutrient level I can't just go so aggressive
And remove it one time that why I need to go slowly
And if I go and start using them with low nutrient the won't full kick it in

Again from my understanding they take a while to get going but it can be variable. There's no harm in starting slowly/ with a small amount, in fact that's probably the best course of action.

What are your nitrate and phosphate readings?

While I stopped doing water change and removed my GFO reactor to get my nitrate and phosphate high ( 20 ppm nitrate , 1 ppm phosphate I will wait tell my nitrate will reach
40 ppm and feeding bit more than before to get more wastes

Start slow. Use 1/3 to 1/2 the recommended dose for a few weeks. I added 250ml then waited month in my 150gal then added another 250. After a couple months I topped it up to the 700 to 750ml that I run now. You dont need high nutrients to start just go slow and steady.

you got some wacky info or you didn't fully understand what you read. They can't work if there are no nutrients, because their job is to remove nutrients. If you start them while nutrients are close to 0, they shouldn't ever climb up, which would be the real goal right? It's counter productive to let your nutrients rise, just to push them back down.

Hmm I never try that before but I was watching mark mr saltwater tank TV
And that what he said with out having nutrients they won't work and he was keeping his nutrients high and didn't have any sps in his tank because of this
And he said tell those bio pellets kick it in those levels will drop .

And he said down run them in low nutrients tank and no nutrients it all and expect them to work

So if you try that before can u place tell me what you did and how much you have add , cause I wanna be sure what to do I don't wanna do any mistake
Thanks in advance

Will i wanna grow Bactria which will help reducing the phosphate and nitrate
Which will make me do less water changes cause I am traveling alots and I have no
Time to do a water change every week or ten days

Just started using a biopellet reactor just shy of 3 weeks ago. Did a lot of homework on biopellet reactors. Mods delete this post if I'm breaking any rules. Fellow reefers please correct me if I'm giving bad info. There is video on YouTube called LA Fishguys. In the episode about biopellet reactors. They do an interview with Jeff Macare about biopellet reactors. To vaguely summarize. Biopellets are a source of carbon, much like vodka or vinegar. Bacteria colonize on the surface, and consume the carbon (biopellet). This bacteria also consumes phosphate and nitrates. If the tank does not have phosphates or nitrates, there would be no reason to add a carbon source.

Yes there is no point in carbon dosing if your nutrients are already low.. If you don't have nutrient problems there's no point in giving yourself nutrient problems just so that you can use biopellets.

Using biopellets won't eliminate the need for water changes since water changes fill the important role of replenishing trace elements. In fact using biopellets could even increase the amount of maintenance you need to do since in theory it will increase the amount of stuff your skimmer pulls from the water. So you will have to empty the skimmers collection cup more often, make sure the biopellets are tumbling well and not clumping together, add more biopellets, etc. Biopellets are not a replacement for water changes and in my opinion should only be used in addition to water changes.

I will still do water change for sure , and if I stopped doing water change for ten days I will have nutrients problem this is the case and for trace element already use a dosing pump to solve this issu and my trace levels are perfect

Thanks for the comments
