Ended up using a Chiller, 1/2HP chiller actually. Yah I am sure it is plenty overkill but might as well.
I tried using fans on my SH tank but I got tired of topping the water level off with FW almost everyday. So, I lucked out in finding a used chiller at the LFS. Didn't pay much for it and it works well. I just had to buy a few missing pieces to get started. I could NEVER live without a chiller on my tank. It's one of the best things I have ever purchased for my aquarium. I have 2 other SW tanks and found a way to get a chiller on those, as well. All 3 chillers that I own are used and were significantly cheaper than buying new. The TUNZE chiller, some years back, would have originally cost around $1300 new. I was able to buy it used for $200. It's a powerhouse.
It is so much easier to manage the temperature with a chiller. The SH tank is set at 70F and the reef tanks are set at 78/79F.
Glad you were able to find a chiller.
