Hello All,
I have been out of the hobby for about 5 years, but inherited an old Biocube 29 that I have been running for about 8 months so far.
I have done a bunch of research and was looking to get aftermarket lighting for my Biocube 29. But i have a few questions.
1. I am not looking to modify the existing hood(Steve's LED). I hear it is easy but would rather not deal with that drilling holes and maybe making a mistake. I also want to get a higher end light to have a variety of corals.
2. I have 2 cats that are obsessed with the tank. So would like to keep the hood to keep cats out. I would move forward with a Kraken/Toplid/etc. if absolutely required, however it does not cover the overflow in the back so not ideal.
With what is listed above I am seeing my only option is the AI blades with standard rim ret mount that allows the hood to stay and close with a slight gap(assuming you remove the existing lights.
My concern with the AI blades is there is no build in cooling so now i am looking at having to add a fan to the outside vent of the hood.
Are there any other lights that would fit under the old Biocube 29(with Compact fluorescence) hood once light and splash guard are removed that have built in cooling. Would the AI Hydro Edge fit? or do they need to be elevated higher?
If i go with the AI blade and add the Fan's I am ready to go with two 12' Grow and one 12" Glow? is that correct or would that be overkill? Would One Grow and One Glow or Two Grow be better?
I would prefer App controlled to really allow for full customization of timing and light if possible.
