LOL. Alveopora are actually quite difficult to care for, similar to Goniopora. Maybe you've hit on something!

What do you mean you think i have hit on something? Also the alveo was a freebie we obtained with a devils hand coral we only really wanted the alveo but the breeder and coral propagator said if he cut the alveo off the rock the DH would fall off we cut the alveo off and the DH stayed attached. however can you believe it we managed to KILL the DH but not the alveo!

What is the Ph of the tank? It would extremely difficult to keep your Ph at even 7.6 Ph with Nitrates that high. How long has the Alveopora been in the tank? What other corals do you have in the tank?
Give us more info on the tank like system volume, filtration, lighting, flow, stocking levels ( I assume with NO3 that high you must have a lot of fish), and most important other parameters like PO4, Kh, etc. and maybe some Pics.
