Alveopora. Yes or No?

My friend is selling an quite rare colored alveopora for a good price, but should I get it? Knowing that goniaporas are almost impossible to keep in reef tanks for more than a year. I have my doubts on alveopora as well, since they are almost the same coral. So yes or no?

I don't have any experience with alveopora, but I've read that they are easier, and kept longer, than goniaporas. I'm pretty sure I saw that in some threads about goniaporas, here on RC.

what does it look like? is it REALLY an alvepora? A pic would help.

From what I've read, alveos are much less high maintenance than gonis. So if you've kept gonis you should be able to handle alveos

I have had alveos and gonis and also currently am adding other exotic pieces. I've had my alveopora for 9 months now and it did grow a lot. Goniporas(red, purple) are the tougher ones and I've had those for over a year with great growth as well. The ones that are difficult to keep are the green flowerpot(gonipora), the common types you see at most LFS.
It is noticed recently that it is also possible to keep them long term as well but feeding is necessary. I feed my tank "Gonipower" which is a zooplankton mix and if you research about this will notice feeding seems to have been the missing link to their early vanishing.
I have however not fed the tank and they kept growing so I would say feed to make sure you have all it needs in case you end up with a higher maintenance piece.
Good luck

Good lick

Sorry double posted from my phone...

I bought an alveopora from DD & it looks great!! Easier to keep than gonis from what I have heard. I have both & my goni is looking great too so I must be doing something right for the moment.
