Am I about to play with fire? Please Help!

I've had a convict tang in QT for 3 wks and no signs of ich, he does however have an injury to his mouth that has healed quite a bit. I just bought a Yellow tang from my LFS, I asked if they did any pre-treatment and was told that they do run a little bit of copper and add more if needed, they also have the largest UV sterilizer I've ever seen. This LFS is a good store and they take good care of their fish. The yellow tang was nipping at algae in the lfs tank and is currently nipping the bag that he's floating in, so it appears as though he has a healthy appetite.

Would I be ok to add the convict and yellow tangs to the DT or should I just add the convict tang to the DT and QT the yellow???

I've always been pro QT but I think adding both at the same time will reduce fighting/aggression.

my yellow's bag is currently floating and I need to know ASAP which tank I should acclimate him to. Please Help!!!!

You already know the answer. If you add him into the QT tank the clock starts all over again for both. Do not under any circumstance add a fish from the lfs to your DT without QT ever.

Add the convict to the DT. Three weeks is enough QT time. (barely). Put the yellow in QT.

You're right, thanks for snapping me back into reality. I'm just anxious to see my tank stocked and the yellow tang looks soooo healthy, but it's always better to be safe than sorry.

Glad to help. In the past I have given into temptation and put fish in too soon. The result: six weeks of aggravation battling Ick. I still consider myself lucky. Next time it will be worse than Ick.

Switch some of your rock around if you can when you add the yellow, it will help with aggression. You can always change it back later.

How big is your tank? A convict needs 75 gal minimum. To house both a convict and a yellow to a small tank would be cruel. If you don't have a really large tank, I wouldn't buy the yellow.

I didn't pay attention to your tank size. Here come the tang police. I can't argue though. Tangs need space. May God have mercy on your soul.
