Am I going to have coloring problems and if so how can i fix this.

TIA

The pic makes it look like there is not much light at all.

How far down in the 20L were they compared to in this taller 29g tank. That is going to tell you if you are going to have a problem. 4 t5's will work but the corals tend to need to be higher in the tank and you have added 6" of water depth so you need to place your sps as close to the light as you had them before.

The light was elevated around 6 inches, so maybe its about the same, but we all know water kills more par than air. Maybe ill find a way to move the rocks up higher, but im digging this scape.

Who knows... stupid SPS. :D

But seriously...
You might. What ballasts/fixture is it? Individual reflectors? SPS are tough because it's hard to really know for sure why some hold their color and some don't. Flow? Water chemistry? Light? At the end of the day I'm sure it all has an effect, but we're talking about light here, so...

For what it's worth... I'm currently running a 4x hamilton retro over my 16" tall tank (yours is 18"). I have all Giessman bulbs and one big reflector. My SPS are near the top of the water under some of the strongest light in my tank. I get good growth from my milli, but it has faded in color a bit on me.

I run a 4x24 over my 20H tank which is 16". My lowest SPS are purple and orange Monti caps, which are at about mid tank, and the rest of the acros/milles that I have go up from there with the closest being about 3 inches from the top of the water. Everything has alot of color- red planet even bleached slightly for about the first month it was in there, but has since developed a minty green color underneath its reddish-purple polyps.

I'm thinking some more height will likely be necessary, but see how it goes I guess. The trick is that once you find whatever combination of height/light/flow/dosing works- stick with it. if I do a water change 2 days late, my monti caps already begin to fade in color.

its a current t5 fixutre with individual reflectors. Im going to try to move that one rock up, but was also looking at a MH +t5 fixtures. i guess time will tell, my parameters are usually stable, i stay on top of all the dosing and water changes. Worst case, i can sell some of my nice ORA acros and get more LPS.

If it came down to it, you could get a bit more rock to make your stack a bit higher, rather than selling off nice pieces.

FWIW.

This would be a good idea. I know you mentioned you really like your current stack, but FWIW, no matter how much I have liked a rock stack of mine, if I ended up having to re-do it I have always liked the end result more than the original. It's happened every time :spin1:
