Am I over AEFW

A little tank history. My tank has had no acro's for a few months know. 30days ago I added 3 New pieces. So far no signs of AEFW. Acro's seem to be happy..lots of polyp extension and color looks good. I want to add 4 more but before I spend the money want to make sure. Should I wait another 20-30days

Guess the question is how long does it take when an acro is added to a tank w/ possible AEFW before it is attacked?

Well to be honest nothing..but I learned my lesson. When I wanted to get into sps's my local supplier gave me the basics in sps keeping. I added a few frags and in s short amount of time lost them all. I later found out that I had AEFW. I have since then setup a Quarintine tank.

I do feel safe because the frags I'm getting now are coming from a R.C. member that has never had a AEFW issue.

Just want to make sure if I wait another 20-30 days so 50-60 total and there are no signs of those little f*#*ers I'm good to add a few more frags

but you see how u are doing everything same as before right ?
so what makes u think u wont get AEFW this time around ?

did you QT those frags ? dip them ?

how about new frags ? will they go right in ? or QT ?

not judging, just saying if you are using no protection, waiting wont help neither.

if u want to be AEFW free, set up a proper QT tank, dip new corals, and put them in QT for a month, dipping weekly ... you will be sure to kill all eggs this way as well, before introduction to main tank..

or do what I do , and just pray, and add the piece to ure main tank, but u dont get to worry about AEW this way lol I have them...

check underside of them, at the base, or around the frag plug.

Not sure how to word this w/o sounding totally stupid. Can they lay eggs on rocks or live within the live rock until an acro is addded. Pretty sure I am in the clear because it has been months since I had any acro's in the tank. Just want to make sure their not sitting waiting for the next meal!

I am not too sure about their life cycle, so wont be able to say for sure.

they do lay eggs in rock, and I think would perish if no ACros in the tank. but again, I dont knwo how long

check your frags, if all good, and no signs of eggs or nothing then ure good. just be carefull with new additions.

They will lay eggs on the rocks near an acro in certain situations. I would say you should read more on the net about aefw. If you have already had them and are collecting more sps and still have questions about the pest its time to study in my opinion.
