Am I screwed? Overflow box silicone question

I think one of the fish has been picking at my overflowbox silicone and it's starting to peel off from one of the sides. I'm not sure if i should cut the piece off and hopefully the fish wont mess with it again, or just leave it there and not mess with it.. any ideas?

Internal overflow? I don't see a real issue pulling it off. If it started to leak through it's still not a big deal unless you have your drain pipe really short.
