Ammonia processing slowly..........or is it??

Hi again guys. I have a 125 with a 40 gallon sump. Theres a 4 inch sand bed in the DT and some sand and live rock rubble in the fuge. The DT has 120+ lbs of base rock and about 20 lbs of seed rock from my LFS.
So I'm about 5 weeks into a fishless cycle. Initially, I dosed to 3-4ppm and let it fall to .25-0 and redosed to 3-4ppm. 9 days ago I dosed and waited and it took only 3 days to get to 0ppm ammo and nit with 20ppm nitrates. I'm thinking "hellz yeah, should only be few more days to get it down to 12-24 hours". Instead it took 3 days. Again, I dosed to 3ppm and it took 3days. I dosed it again and.............wait for it, wait for it............it took 3 days.
So I had to pick up some calibration fluid from my LFS and decided to get some advice. I was told that my tank is basically cycled. It can't process 3ppm in 24 hours but it can do 1ppm and with a small bioload this would be more than sufficient.
"Great news, I'm gonna go buy some $#!t", I thought..................but after doing some digging I decided I should really get another opinion.
Any thoughts guys???

5 weeks is a bit longer than I have experienced with a fishless cycle but every tank is different.
Generally you should be testing for 2 ppm, not 3 or 4.
I would wait a week, dose to 2 ppm, and test 24 hours later. Use the link below to get an accurate dosage measurement.
Let us know how that works. Good Luck.

Has anyone else used this dosing calculator? I used it and it took a lot more than what I calculated. Wondering if the OP had success with it?
