Amphiprion percula - how to get them started?

Ok, so it's NOT a breeding log, yet. Now that I've been able to dail back the mandarins for a few days my mind can wander on other subjects.

This brings me to our pair of "Onyx" Percs...these were the first fish in our first Cube (I'd been out of saltwater for a few years). At the time I was doing a brief stint at a Chicago LFS - I actually paired them up at the shop before bringing them home.

The pair has gradually become more and more agressive towards their tankmates since their introduction 11 months ago (6-20-06). Now, I fully realize that percs can take a few YEARS to spawn. I'm looking to shortcut that a bit since the pair, especially the male, has been doing nothing but "clear cutting" ANY corals and algaes that try to grow anywhere close to their Euphyllia divisia home for the last 2+ months. It's CONSTANT nest clearing.

Basically, I think these guys could be ready to pop at any given moment and I'm just missing the proper stimulus to kick it off. I've heard that massive water changes can do it. What about photoperiod? Their diet is first rate, so nutrition should be there already...nothing missing...Any other tricks I might try (besides good old fashioned patience)?

Just a curious post...considering my luck with the mandarins I'd almost be HAPPIER to get some experience with clowns!

So, bottom line, how can I trigger them to spawn for the first time?

Matt

Raise the temp a little bit (I believe everyone says around 82??), lights should be an about 13 hours of the day, massive water change could do it as well as immitating a plankton bloom (put a frozen cube of baby brine shrimp it).

Tomrep, Juck, I'll put BOTH those suggestions into action next week if I'm not busy with mandarins - thanks!
