I have a 5" I believe is a H. Mag and it has been in the tank for a week now and can't find a spot that that it likes, is this normal? It has moved atleast 8 times. It is fully extended and eats well. My tank has high flow, 150w MH, and all water params are fine. Is this species know to move a lot or is it still acclimating?

Thanks

all nems take a bit to find a good hole or crevice to put there foot in, all depends on flow, light, it's ability to retract in to the hole. you can cut a piece of pvc(1.5"x3-4"long), smooth the edges and wedge it in to you rock work and see if it will reside there, it usually makes a good home for one, and it'll turn purple pretty quick too.

Mags don't like to have their foot in a hole or crevice, they prefer to be ontop of smooth rock -- as high as possible. (( there are also sand dwelling anemones that, as the name states, like the sand, and not a crevice )).

What size tank do you have? How long has it been set up? And what are the numbers behind your parameters?

Mags are one of the hardest (( if not the hardest )) hosting anemone to keep.

150 watt MH is also at the low end of their light requirements. The flat rock for them should be directly under the bulb maybe 8" away from the bulb for starters

There are no cnidarians harder to keep than a Ritteri
