Anemone nuking sponge - recommendations?

OK, my newly purchased BTA adjusted to the tank quite well and then immediately moved to a location that put it in proximity with a sponge. The sponge is getting nuked - you can see the damage the contact is doing. I'm wondering if this is going to nuke the tank? It's a small sponge that arrived as a hitchhiker on the rock, so I'm not too concerned about losing it, but if I leave it in there and let nature take it's course, will I risk nuking the other livestock in the tank?

It's a 75 g reef with only a couple of small fish, the anemone and a small gsp rock. Very light bio load currently.

It will only "nuke" what it touches. If it doesnt come in contact with any of your other livestock it wont hurt anything.
Since you say your tank has a light load I wouldnt worry about what happens in it as to the anemone.
Good luck

I heard that anemones put out allopathic compounds and will stunt grow and slowly kills other corals. I always heard you don't mix anemones with other corals.
