As some of you know I recently got a haddoni anemone
I have been doing alot of reading and see people recommend running carbon while having an anemone but cannot find the reason why
So why do you run carbon with an anemone
I never have before in pas tanks

Because they have a heavy bio load and when they poop the carbon helps water look clean. Plus incase the anemone has chemical warfare or starts to die the carbon helps polish the water. I personally have 6 bta anemones and run carbon in a mesh bag and throw that in my filter sock and it works for me the past 1yr. Hth

I run a media reactor with carbon with multiple E.Quadricolor nems.
my understanding is that anemones release toxins as a defense against other anemones and running carbon (along with good flow) will lessen the toxin's potency.

I only have one nem
He is by NO corals
I have a brs carbon reactor I can use
Cet98 Do you run your reactor 24/7
How often do you change the carbon how do u know when it's depleted
Again with all my other tanks I have had in the past I never used carbon for anything

yes, run 24/7....change carbon once a month.
don't know went it's depleted :p just change it monthly
IMO, running carbon is a must...if for no other reason than to polish the water and keep it cyrstal clear :D
