aneneome and cloudy waters

Okay, here is the story. Saturday I did my weekly water change. I then bought a bubble tip anenome from AA. Everything is cool. He finds a nice little spot kind of under a rock and seems happy. Sunday I feed him a nice big silverside. He devours it. At 9 o'clock Sunday night the lights turn off. At 11 he has decided to explore a bit and is crawling up the back of the tank. I go to bed.

This morning, the tank is cloudy. The anenome is attached to the rock but it is in the back and I can't get a good look at him. ALSO, I notice some white stuff all around the rocks. It looks fleshy to me.

I have a really small pump attached to the back of the tank pointing up toward the surface at an angle. I believe that more surface agitation is a good thing. It is where the oxygen exchange occurs.

My theory is that perhaps the anenome maybe got a finger sucked into the pump somehow.

I say that because I remember reading a post on RC about someone who had an anenome get stuck in his pump with the same symtoms.

However, in the back of my mind I seem to recall something about anenomes can expel some kind of cloudy substance for what reason I don't remember. Maybe someone has some knowledge about that?

Anyway, I have to work to support my reef habit, and left the tank for now. My plan for now is to stop at LFS and get some carbon and see if that helps the cloudiness. I'll check the water when I get home and maybe do a 10 or 20 % water change.

You may want to check a few things.

1) Have you checked to see if the anemone was damaged? That should really be the first thing you know.

2) Do you have any sea cucumbers, and if so, where are they now?

3) Did you feed that night? It could be that pieces of food floated off and began to rot.

4) check for dead fish, etc.

5) Anemone may have spawned or released gut contents.

That is about all I can imagine right now.

HE RELOCATED TO THE BACK BEHIND A ROCK AND I CAN'T GET A GOOD LOOK AT HIM. I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO TRY TO MOVE HIM.

NONE.

I FED HIM SOME SILVERSIDE IN THE AFTERNOON AND HE DEVOURED IT IN SHORT ORDER.

ALL FISH PRESENT AND ACCOUNTED FOR: ONE CLOWN, ONE WATCHMAN.

5) Anemone may have spawned or released gut contents.
EEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWW. IS THAT GOOD OR BAD OR NORMAL?

That is about all I can imagine right now.
