another saddleback?

I have a cycled BC14 with approx. 15 lbs of live rock and 18 lbs of live sand.

I have a black and white saddleback clownfish (2 weeks in tank) as my only fish. He is about 1.25", eating well and appears happy/healthy.

The LFS says that a good tankmate for him would be one of the larger saddlebacks they have in stock.

I am concerned this will be too much in a 14 gallon. Eventually (about 1 year). I plan on starting my second saltwater tank. This will either be my empty 30 gallon or I will convert my 75 gallon freshwater tank.

I was leaning towards staying with the 1 clownfish for now and perhaps a small goby.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

I would think either would be ok, just make sure the goby eats prepared foods if you go that route. What kind of goby were you thinking of?

I would check out the goby you are looking at.

Purple/Orange (Fire) Gobys may look nice, but they can become quite territorial just like a clownfish, so you could have them fighting for their own space in a small tank like that.

When we introduced a purple goby into our 50g tank it was fighting with our clowns for 2 weeks before they all settled down in different areas of the tank. Note: The clowns had been living there for 18mnths and had hosted.

Shanhell: I wasn't really sure yet, but something small. I visit LFS in the area often. I was going to see what comes in during the next few months. I have only seen Catalina Gobies online. They look nice, but I think they prefer cooler water.

Perhaps a neon goby.

Zaita, thanks for the heads up.
