Another Thick glass question

Vortechs website says that MP40's can be used on glass up o 3/4" thick. Does anyone know of a vortech option that would work with 1" thick glass?

You could build a dry box to house the vortecs near the overflow. This tank does that with 8 of them:

Vortec Dry Box

Better question: what size tanks needs 1'' glass?

Thanks for that link, I wouldn't have thought of the dry box approach in my own. Is there a build thread for that tank here on RC?

and yes... my 550gal is should be delivered in about 72 hours. It is a deep tank, 49.5", hence the thick glass.

I have not seen a build thread. There are a couple more videos of that tank on YouTube though. His dry boxes work out nicely because he has a peninsula style tank. I am sure you could have any acrylic fabricator make a box that hangs on the edge of the tank to hold a vortech. Depending on your setup though, you mine as well get tunze.

Just notices your name and your occupation........

Speaking of your occupation. Whats a F22 flight surgeon. The F22 is a fighter jet.....care to explain???

I only ask because I work at an Aerospace company that makes the whole power (electricity) generation system for the F22 raptor along with every other commercial plane out there.....I thought flight surgeons flew on big planes....

In military parlance, surgeon is the term for most any doctor. A flight surgeon is a doc with special training and experience to treat pilots and aircrew. My unit flys Raptors. The folks who fly on the big AirEvac planes are Docs, nurses, and respiratory therapists who are part of a CCAT (Critical Care Air Transport) team.
