any clubs in Lackawanna/luzerne county

Yeah it is really limited up in this area. I am from further north in Susquehanna county. There isnt a whole lot besides the nearby members here on NCPARS and other semi local forums. Now since petco is gone in scranton there really arent any stores up here that sell much saltwater stuff nearby. There is Finsanity in Luzerne, petco in wilkes (but yeah its petco). Then further south if you dont mind driving there is Knockout Aquatics near the outlets in tannersville, and I think there are some stores down near Allentown area, and then out in Lancaster. Not sure about the areas inbetween there since I dont really travel that area.

Very over priced on everything they sell and their quality is low. All their tanks are covered in algae.

Sometimes beggers cant be choosers, i just wanted to give him another option if he was ever in a pinch to grab something its the closest to him..I would think most people these days are ordering everything online as you cant beat their gaurantee. The gaurantee is what kills the local fish stores IMO

I have been working with the owners of the pet zone making recommendations etc... so in the near future you may see some improvements in live stock. They are trying to get a bit more into marine aquatics then previously(reptiles and other pets were there headline) and just set up a bank of frag tanks driven by diodes. We are discussing skimmers,RODI,water chemistry, etc... in great detail so if he chooses to make the right choices here it can be a different experience in a few months.Time will tell but I have hopes that things will get better fast now that he is using all RODI water for his reefs. This alone and his willingness to understand Alk,cal and mg supplementation and maintenance is new for the store.Check it out in a few months.jus sayin

While you're chatting with him about chemistry, see if he's serious about putting solid prices on his tanks. I have heard employees talking about having a new pricing system so everyone will know the prices without asking. This also keeps the prices from changing. I know I am not the only one who has stopped buying there because prices have changed from the tank to the register.

I'm a pretty big fan of Finsanity. His prices are definitely fair if not then good for the saltwater community. I've had great luck with things from him. He actually bought several things frome me and gave me a very good price for what I had. As for Pet Zone, yes it is an option but Like me and others have experienced there are issues that we jut wanted to let the OP of in case he didn't know. There is other issues there besides fixing and learning about their tanks. Prices as another poster put. Extremely high. One of my personal bad experiences was me and my family went there on a Saturday. This is over an hour drive for me. When we walk in the father that owns the shop said hurry up and get what you want that he was closing hours early because his business was so bad for the day that it was ridiculous and he was mad. I informed him how far we drove just to go to his shop and he had no care about that, ignored it and said we had 2 minutes. His son is decent to deal with I will give them that. Just too many bad experiences there and have been experienced by many that I know.

i as well agree his son is much better to deal with i have been there plenty of times now. i actually took some advice from his father and bought a 1250 gph powerhead which seems to be overkill now in my 55g and now i need too get rid of that and buy 2 smaller ones maybe 2 700gph, but dont have the funds to get 2 now. as for fin-sanity, Phil is my guy he has helped me more than any forum or info i have gotten. all my fish and frags have been from him. again he is a great guy and i will continue to go to him. thanks for all the responses i will prob keep more of my questions onto the local side.
