any diy canopys

hey guys im also looking for a diy canopy plan for my 55g,i have one i made but it's not great,i'd like one with front doors on it,i made mine with the top hinged and thats fine but if it wasnt hinged i can fit more lights in there,plus i made mine way too short and im not eactly sure the perfect height for one,needing room to work in and plenty of space to put in bags of fish and such,ya guys know what i mean.....thanks guys
 
Pickupman66 is the diy expert, he might be able to give you some idea..
there's someone else posted something about his DIY corner stand, he's good too. check the post here, you should be able to find it.
 
I made a hood for my 75. Turned out pretty good. lasted 6 years till I sold it.
Front shot. I had two doors on it at the front so I coudl get my hands in and feed and such

the entire top lid opened about 5/8 the way back. used a gigantic piano hinge.

When I built it, I made teh top lid out of a solid piece of wood. it still flexed badly even after sealing it. I made 4 braces out of a piece of aluminum angle and a 1x2. those shored it up and it was straight as an arrow. I used the ones on the ends to mount my VHO to. it worked out PERFECTLY. I could literally stand on my hood. entirely made from cabinet boards. I think it was 8" tall on the sides. put a little corner in each so that it fit fuly over the rim.
