Never fear man it isnt that bad. The electric company has to provide the wire to the meter. You will have to buy a new box ($150), and maybe a new meter box ($80), and the wire (?????). I am going to need a ton of frags pretty soon so I can help you this fall if you want to do it.

Thanks for the offer craig, i think for now i am just gonna replace a breaker with a bigger one and run some new wire to the tank. I already have the wire and breakers so it shouldn't be to bad of a job.

Only very small dwelling would have 100 and maybe an outbuilding would have a 60. Hello my moring building has a 100.

My house is 1800 sq. feet and I only have 60 amp service until I get the money to rewire it.

Matt:that sucks man, mines 100 amp and i just got a new meter when i bought the place because the one that was on the house was smashed up from a tree hitting it. If i would have known i should have had the electrician put in a bigger service then.

Wow! I guess I did all of my work in Ames. They would have never allowed anything that small on that size of house. But again, I am running off of a 60 right now and don't have any problems.

Forgot to mention that my house was built in 1903 I suppose that might have a little bit to do with it too. :D
