Any electricians out there?

I just had to replace a small section of my water main due to pitting caused by a connected ground wire. I had the plumber drill a hole in the basement floor for a grounding rod, but due to the basement ceiling being on the low side, getting a rod into the ground is gonna be interesting to say the least. If I already have an external ground do I need another one in the house? Is there any way to just keep it connected to the water main without causing another pinhole leak?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can put the ground rod outside an just run the bond wire into the panel. Still need to bond the water main though
