Any experience with 100% Oveflows?

Just curious if anyone has anything good, or bad, to say about having an overflow that stretches the entire length of your tank?

I was thinking of getting a custom 5 foot tank with an overflow going from one side all the way to the other and have 2x herbie drians with 2x emergencies and 2x returns. Starfire front and side panels...

Look up Calflo. This is the type of overflow I think your suggesting. Lots of info and would love to have one in my tank. I went with glass holes dart box. Works great but really like the thought of a calflo system.

I have a full overflow one one side of my Tank. Gets great surface skimming and works very well.

There is a drawback however in that I cannot get my Vortech 's on opposite sides to create optimum flow. So I have to have both Vortech's one one side and supplement with Korallia's on the overflow side. Its not really a biggie, but the Korallias are more intrusive and visible inside the Tank, and I did not really want to go that way, but I needed the flow.

If you are going to go that far custom then go ALL THE WAY with a coast to coast and a Bean Animal.

Go 6' too and 180 or more. That way you have lots of room front to back and lots of TANG swimming room ;)

Ooops - I think I just described my dream tank

^^^^

That's pretty much my dream tank. Going to 6' really seems to open up the options for fish. My understanding is that a coast to coast gives the best surface skimming.

So no one's heard anything bad about coast to coast?

I actually want to get the back (long side) to be the overflow area. That would be six feet of overflowingness!

This would allow me to use my vortechs with one on each end...
