Any frags in SE Alabama?

Hello,

I live in Ozark and have recently started my first reef tank. Its is a 25g RR nano, a 10 baffled sump, skimmer, and 96w 50/50 pc lighting. It currently has several tiny zoa colonies, xenia, ricordia, and a candy cane. That may sound like a lot but its still looks quite bare. If there is anyone in or around Ozark, Dothan, Enterprise or the surrounding areas that has some frags of even colonies they would be willing to sell......please let me know. My parameters are great and of course, its fully cycled.

I am also looking for a clown pair.

Thanks in advance,
Spencer

If you can make it, you should come to our frag swap here in Montgomery on April 25th. It's from 12 to 4 at the Drury Inn next to Sam's Club on the bypass. More details to come, but I definitely think the trip would be worth your while.

Rugdog and I plan on renting a table and selling lawn gnomes. We got a lot of SPS and Zoa's. We hope to have prices on our frags, before the swap. This is a frag of the Zoa colony. We got a lot of different colors. :bum:

I don't think I have enough light for the sps but I'd love some cool zoas or lps, I'd really like some acans....

Ramses - by all means please post photos and prices of what you and Rugdog are bringing to the swap. I'm definitely interested.

Steagfs - don't let the "swap" mislead you. There is definitely some trading going on, but most of the transaction are purchases - everything from single mushrooms to large colonies.

I need to get the coral market thread up... There will be some of everything there from easy softies to more difficult sps, etc.

Spencer,

When you get ready for SPS, let me know and you can come raid my tank the next time your near Andalusia. I need to thin becasuse things are growing out of the water. :strooper:

Hey, there is a few of us down here. I'm in the process of setting up a 360gallon. It has a few small things in it. I bought a few frags at the "FRAG DEMO" a few weeks ago and I bought a few more in Pensacola at Water World a few days ago. Nothing is ready yet, but it shouldn't be to long. I'm going to do some trading with Shane user name s.filipowski and JD who is not on the site. Shane and I are waiting for our corals to grow enough to frag. We are both just getting this started. His tank has been up about 2 months longer than mine.

hershell,

That sounds great, its good to know that there are a few other reefers in the wiregrass. Please let me know as soon as you have some frags ready, anything will be greatly appreciated.

A quick question, are there any beginner species of SPS that can survive high in a tank under pc lights? I doubt it but I thought I'd ask. I dose calcium but thats all.....

One of my first tanks was a 20G high that had 130W of PC over it. I kept montipora (digitata and capricornis) and green bird's nest in the top 1/3 of the tank with no problem. Routinely had enough to frag and trade at the LFS.

steagfs, Ramses66 and I will have some pcs. of birdsnest and monti cap at the mont. frag swap very reasonable (cheap). if you want to try it.
Terry Holmes (RUGDOG)

absolutely Rugdog, I'd love to give it a try. Save me a frag of each. Just to get an idea, how much will most of the frags be?

I could probably round up some;
fire engine red monti digitata
orange monti cap
purple monti cap
green w/purple rim monti cap
forest green monti cap
frogspawn
xenia
kenya tree
pink pocillopora

:strooper:

TheGriffin,

all of that sounds great, I have xenia but I'd love all the others....i may make a trip your way just to pick it up....how much would you expect money wise?

we are going to have some things 2 for five dollars. Agood bit for 5 a frag then some will be 10 and 15. lots of good buys for someone starting to fill a tank. I will let yo have a birds nest and a piece of cap for 20

How about $50. I'll even throw in some dark green long haird milli, yellowish/green long haired milli, acro. valida, and acro. tenuis (see gallery) if I can find some laying around the bottom. They may do ok under the PC's if really high. Doesnt hurt to try.

:strooper:

-Also, I have some stuff like glaxyia (lps) and halimeda plant if you want

I just have lots of random things laying all over. Everything has gotten so big that they get in the way of my mag float. Every week I have to ram them with the float to get it by on the galss causing things to break off:) I'm sure I can load you up with a bunch of frags.
