So, I'm thinking about adding a door of some sort to the front of my stand, just to make it look less like an aquarium stand and more like a beat up piece of furniture. I have a couple different ideas on how to attach it, either magnets, hinges or dzus fasteners. I also wanted to see if anyone had any ideas on what might look the best. Not sure if I should just add a full front door or make it look like a dresser / chest of drawers. I just want it to look nice and have never added a door or anything to a stand before. I think I'm leaning towards making it look like a chest of drawers though. I'll add some pics for reference if anyone has any neat ideas.

What are the dimensions. I have several nice doors that I am hanging on to that you are welcome to. All solid wood, a few with glass inserts

Go the salvation army or good will and buy an old dresser close to this size. Cut a single piece of plywood for the door and then cut just the drawer fronts off the old dresser and mount them to the plywood door. Will give you a door that looks like a bunch or drawers...if that makes sense.

I'd use European style hinges on it because you don't see the hinges at all. The door has to be thick enough to accommodate the hinge though.I think the minimum door thickness for euro hinges is 3/4".a smoked or black glass door would be cool as well.I got a local glass shop near me that is good on prices and cuts to order.he cut my sump baffles, even beveled and polished all the edges and only charged me $15 for the glass, cutting, beveling, and polishing. I'm going to have him cut and drill my pieces to make my external overflow box and I'm going to make the internal overflow part out of 1/8" black acrylic.i might even see if he will drill my tank for me since he has all the proper equipment for drilling the glass and it will take the stress of drilling the tank off of John at FAOIS.

I'm gonna checkout a few places tomorrow or Sunday. The lip on the stand where I can attach the hinges are, are only 1/2" anyways

If a door is what you want a door is what you shall get. You know I can throw a door together in less time than it took you to get to my house. lol
