Hi,

I'm just making sure I haven't overlooked any good local stores.

I know about:

Reef Plus in Aurora
Petland on 59

Hmm forget the names, but the one on Main in Lombard and the one on 63rd in Woodrige..

Is there any others worth visiting?

Does anyone know if "A Splash of Life" is any good or still open?

Pet-Land on Rt 59 is out of business. I went by today. A sign on the door says they will reopen "sometime in the future" under new ownership. Anyone know the story? I was in there last week and there wasn't any sign that this was coming. Does this have anything to do with Petland/Aquarium Adventure?

they had a big sale and sold most everything at big discounts they sold there shallow look down tanks to deep reef aquatics
which is just getting them running a couple weeks ago last time I was there all they had in them was rock.....

Brett said he was going to concentrate on the zero edge tanks

Pet Land seemed to always be dogged by high prices and snobby employees. I was in Orland Saturday and hit a couple places. Chicago Aquatics has really gone down hill as far as live stock. So so fish but all the coral tanks are now loaded with flat worms and just did not look healthy. I went over to Aquatica which is less than 10 minutes away and was slightly impressed. They are always friendly there and had a little better selection. Tanks seemed to be a bit healthier.

check out upscale aquatics on 59 in plainfield they have some really nice fish there..kinda high price but I think you pay for quality and I think they have great quality fish and they are very helpful with any questions you may have.

Never go to upscale.
Definately snobby / stuck up employees, definately high prices, and you can get the same quality or better, with far better service, elsewhere...

I stopped by Petland in Aurora today and the two new owners are in the middle of remodeling. It sounds like the place is going to look really nice after they are done. Extremely nice guys and I look forward to supporting them down the road. Make sure you check out the new store once it reopens.

As soon as somebody finds out its open, share witht he rest of us...

I wish I had known about the closing sale...

As Eric mentioned, we stopped by last night and met the new owners. The remodeling is moving very quickly, just about everything is already cleared out. The place looks huge.

They are hoping to be done in time for a Dec grand opening. Their plans sound great and they will still have a marine/reef section, plus they're adding a reptile section.

New Owners

Hi yall,

I am one of the new owners of Petland Naperville. Sorry that none of you knew about the sale it was kept very quite due to the staff. There wasn't a big sale beforehand just a few quick days to minimize the inventory that would have to be sold to other stores. If any of you are interested I have some fish tanks and display units that I need to get rid of. Free of charge. I have decided they just need to go at this point. All those center island units need to be taken so please call me if you are interested. Thanks. Other than that the store WILL be open by the end of the year and we will still carry everything that was there before and more. Hopefully we won't loose any of your business. Thanks for all the support.
