hey guys whats up .. i was wondering any suggestions on popular pairs or fish that are known to reproduce in tanks well i have a under stocked 100gl looking to fill it wanna make wise decisions

search please......
your best choices esp if you've never done this before are banggai cardinals, clownfish, and/or seahorses. There are a others, such as dottybacks, gobisomas gobies, etc, but starting slow w/ banggais or clowns would be a great start

One pair of clowns per tank is a generally accepted rule to avoid territorial disputes. Can you have more? Sure, but you can also drive a car with your feet (just not a good idea ya know? ;) ) Good species might be ocellaris, percula, clarkii, tomato, or maroon, among others, check the clown forum too for more clown information about them:

Firefish are known to pair in tanks, but knowledge of their reproduction in captivity is limited. Frank's suggestion of the banggais is a good one too since this is a fish with direct development that you could reasonably raise in a community reef-type setting.

If you are a bit more ambitious and want to deal with live food cultures, etc, you could also try a pair of gobies, dottybacks, blennies, jawfish, other cardinal species..., but they will be more work than clowns and a lot more work than the banggais. Search here for more information about those groups if you are interested in trying them -- lots of good (but mostly older) threads about these species are in here. Hope this helps!
