I would rather be more precise with my pH readings than color matching strips. American Pinpoint for $80 or so is extremely expensive (but I do understand importance). Anything better than color matching strips for around $30-40?
If you can manage $60 and don't mind +/- .1 accuracy, a Hanna probe will work and has auto-temperature-compensation (ATC) For $70 you can get .01 accuracy -- this is from drsfostersmith.com
Given the prices on those, I'd make a bid at $20 and see if you hit it -- they claim .01 accuracy. With shipping, at the current prices you're still looking at over $25.. Ask if they have ATC
