any must see stores in Miami area?

Big Als in Tamarac. Big Als may not be the best (in some people's opinion), but it is the biggest and most impressive.

Jawz on Broward and 95. No one can beat their prices.

Since this thread is all about opinion, I will have to say that Jawz does not make my list of top 10 stores in South Florida.

I just went to Aquarium World for the first time last week. It gets 2 thumbs up from me!

Just curious what you dont like about Jawz? they seemed to have good prices when i stopped in there a little while ago. Any personal experiences, or just dont like the store?

I usually don't like to post things like that on the forum. The store is ok but nothing that made it stand out above the average.

Thanks everybody,
I appreciate your input. My wife and I will actually be moving to your area in about a year and a half. I look forward to meeting everyone.

Tim

I encourage everyone to visit all stores in the area to see which ones are good. I just don['t see any reason to put JAWZ on a list of must see stores in the area, do you?

Sorry you feel that way. Maybe it's because i have built a great relationship with those. Anyway who really cares, it's all personal opinion.

I went to Aquarium World for the first time this afternoon, and the place seemed a bit odd to me.

Thereââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s no question the displays are beautiful, but it didnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t look like a retail outlet to me. Itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s extremely difficult to find, and when I stepped in the door, the people acted like I wasnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t supposed to be there.

Is my experience unusual, or is Aquarium Worldââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s main business something other than retail?

To tell you the truth, I am not sure. He may do some service and such also. The store is a little different and hidden, but I found the store to be like a little hidden secret.

Thereââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s no question the selection of fish, anemones and coral was incredible. Better, by far, than any other store Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ve been to in S. Florida.

However, when you walk up to the front door (which is way around the back side of the office complex), thereââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s no sign out front (at least none I noticed). You kind of hope youââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢re in the right place, but you donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t know for sure until you open the door. Once you walk in, itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s like you just walked into someoneââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s private office. You have to walk through the office to get back to the display areas, and once in the display area, there werenââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t any prices or descriptions on anything.

Now, admittedly enough, those who have been in this hobby for a very long time probably donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t need labels on things to identify them. But, I wasnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t quite sure what was for sale and what wasnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t.

I thought Reef Life in Dania Beach was different (being off in the werehouses). But, this is very different.

However, now that I know they werenââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t just being kind to me by letting me trespass through their private display area, Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ll feel better going back. :)

you have to go to exotic aquatic. i work there. we are the only specialty shop in florida to have the hanging aquarium. it is awesome. we also have a huge selection of soft corals along with a ton of saltwater fish. we have a few stonies, but not really into it. we also special order and ship to other parts of the country by request. we are also building a new show tank, 400 gallons, all starfire glass and gonna be a mixed reef with stonies and softies.
Thanks,
Joshua Walters
