Any Oceanic BC14/29 owners

My week old cube seems to be giving off an odor. I think maybe the fan is causing this?

Another thing, when I close the lid, it seems that a small space is still present in the front where the lid meets the tank (you can see light coming out of it).

Are these common issues?

Update:

Contacted Oceanic and they are sending out a new canopy.

Plus they answered on the first ring and no horrible phone menu.
