I have been vodkas dosing for the last year with 0 ill effects. I just currently switched to nopox because my phosphates kinda went out of control, probably from feeding my damn stingray. Very messy eater lol. Anyways, if you are looking to drop your nitrates only here is the vodka dosing chart that I used that worked like a charm
God forbid someone says "Yes, I dose carbon and here's what mine look like."
In answer to the OP's question, I have a lot of zoos in my 50g. I'm running a biopellet reactor which is essentially the same as carbon dosing. Granted my tank has only been up for about 3 months now but my zoas and palys have never looked better. I'm only running a third of the pellets that were actually recommended though. My nitrates and phosphates are very low (.02ppm phosphate and under 5 ppm for nitrates), but not 0 which is pretty much what I was aiming for.
My roommate has been dosing vodka for about 6 months now and although he doesn't have many zoas, his SPS has absolutely tanken off in the past few months.
If you follow the directions and start slowly I think you will be very happy with the results.
I don't think these threads are all that great without pics. Before I started dosing vitamin c I looked for pics everywhere to see the potential positives. I'm at work so I can't post pics or I would.
I moved recently and stopped dosing for awhile now. My colors were great and so was growth. I have my 75g set up and running but am not going to pick up dosing again until my 210 is running and then I'm going to try vinegar with my kalk. I've heard good things about it.
