Any one run phosban or any other Filter Media?

I will be making a 2 or 3 stage phosban reactor when I get my new RO/DI unit and would like to know what other people are running and having success with.

What type? How much to use? What brands are best? and so on.

I know I would like to run Phosban in one stage and carbon in the next.

Is there something else I could put in the 3rd stage to help the tank?

I'm currently running a Fluval 304 but just bought a Rena XP3. I run carbon (Black Diamond), Phosban, and a poly filter right now. The tanks parameters are really good and the water is almost always crystal clear. However the weed from hell is still growing and multiplying but, no hair algea, cyano or anything else bad in there, and, everything is pretty healthy.

What is the Poly Filter used for?

Um, I put it in because I had it laying there! But, it takes out any stuff, heavy metals, organics, residule meds, about anything that isn't supposed to be there it strips. Like I said though, I just used because I had it. I run one for a few months every year just 'cause. I won't hurt and it could help. It also helps to polish the water IMO.

On the Poly filters pads isn't there like 4-5 different types.. Ones for Phosphate, carbon, ammonia, I cannot remember what the rest ere if there are more. I have heard the Phosphates one work really well, but I have not used them.

Or are we talking about two different things?

To my knowledge there is only one, "Poly Filter". It's a white pad available in 4x9 or a 12x12 inch pad. I haven't ever looked for anthing else from them. There may be something else available but I don't know of it.
