any suggestions on my weird zoo problem

I have been lossing alot of zoos in my tank. My radioactive green zoos have grown like crazy while most my other zoos have disappeared. The weird thing is that of the ones that have disappeared a few of each colony remains but only in crevices. Like my forest green zoos have all disappeared off their rock except where they are between the rock and the clam. My purple centered zoos have disappeared off their rock except between the cracks of two rocks. I will try to take pics to show everyone what I am talking about. I think somethign might be picking at them because I decided to place some frags under egg crate to protect them and all the frags are doing fine. How can I figure out who is the culprit? Or does someone have another possible explanation. I know my temperature in my tank gets over 82 degrees at time could that be causing the zoos to disappear.

Sounds like predation to me. Have you checked for Sundial Snails and Zoanthid Eating Nudibranchs?

Most the zoos are on large rocks and can not be easily taken out of the tank. I am not sure what i am looking for and how to actually see them (do you need a magnifiy glass or something. have fresh water dipped several of the zoos and done the furan dip with no luck and no obvious critters coming off them. Again don't know how small the critters might be.

I would think that if it was a small critter however it would be able to get to my frags that i have under the egg crate unless they stay on the rocks and not move across the sand to ge to the frags.

Sundial Snail eats Zoanthids

The nudibranchs take a little eye-balling to see, but you can definitely find them with the naked eye. The ones I have seen are about 1/4"-1/2" long.

The Sundial snails I have seen are about 1/2" big.

Zoanthid-Eating Nudibranch about 30 mins after the lights are out

and they can be different colors from eatting the zoos

where do you buy your zoos from?

Get a Yellow Corris Wrasse. It took me forever to find out what was eating my Zoo's and once I finally seen the first nudity it was like they were all over the place and I had lost over 75% of zoo's.. I have since picked out as many nudities as I could see, Some very very small and others up to 1/2" long. Picked up a yellow corris wrasse, and my zoo's have been starting to multiply again.

Note when the nudities are on a zoo's they are very hard to see for the first couple of times because they change colors to the zoo's they are eating. Once you get an idea what you are looking for you will be surprised how many you find.

I was at GWA the other day and picked up a free magazine in it was a article about using FWE. on zoo nudi's with before and after pixs seemed to work good with no ill effects, this was used as a dip. The pixs of the nudi's looked like they fell apart and melted away.

Its called reef hobbyist magazine (freebie)It states that 4 drops in 2-4 cups of tank water for 30 minutes to several hours since there in tank water had no ill effects then rinse with another dip in tank water.
