Having a hard time with bubble algea in my SPS tank

Tried 2-3 emerald crabs, but they are hardly ever seen and they dont seem to be eating it anyways.

Any fish proven that they love to eat this stuff

I have kept both a Desjardini Tang and a Scribbled Rabbit in my Tank for years. My Valonia has not reappeared in years and I trade corals from tanks that have valonia in them. Rabbits are way cool! :artist:

I'd go with Fishdoc.

I'd also realize that IME a couple different species of Mithrax crab are sold under the name of `Emerald'. IMO, not all are the same, not all eat bubble algae.

If your emeralds don't appear affective, perhaps another vendor would have some that are actually useful. A few LFS around here sell green crabs that have done nothing for me, one sells green crabs that eat bubble algae. All sold as Emerald ...

The emerald crabs I purchased from Reeftopia.com (12 of them for my 150) have decimated my valonia. I highly recommend them.

I had a huge problem with buble algea. I have tried emerald crabs with no luck. I heard the Desjardini aka Red Sea Tang would take care of it. I was extremely skeptical, as I have had other sail fin tangs before.

I took a frag to trade at the lfs and the Red Sea Tang picked off 20 small bubbles in less than 5 min. Never seen anything like it before.

Brought the tang home and after about a month you can see where the tang can't reach, that's the only place I have bubbles now.

thanks guys

the scribbled rabbitfish looks nice, how is the temperment?

extremely friendly, it used to school with my kole tang and one of my angels, and this thing didn't just nip at bubble algae, it would tear even the huge ones to pieces, did quite a number on any kind of hair or bubble algae in the tank actually, one of my favorite species for sure, nice color too :D

Desjardini Tang did the trick for me. A great addition to the tank and he would tear into any bubble algae he could find.

Be carefull though, the scribbled rabbitfish can aquire a taste for zoas if you have them.
Chris

I wish mine would.......would like to remove the last few stragglers.

The rabbit is very passive the only time mine seems to get defensive is when the chromis get to close to the seaweed on the veggie clip that he is eating. Other then that he could seem to careless about his tankmates.
