I have a 50 gallon tank. Its 36x18x18.
Any tips for what kind of livestock i should have?
I have a 28gallon now and i have some corals like frogspawn, hammer coral, mushrooms and elegance coral. I want to put those in the new 50 gallon tank.

bump... looking for the same thing here.... some good advice for a 55g fowlr.

Lot of experienced people here I know some have some suggestions.

thanks

I had a 50g for 4 years until I just upgraded to a 150g a couple months back. The one thing I would suggest is to have a fuge tied into the system some how and the bigger the better. I had a 15g fuge that was gravity fed back to the tank. Just used a maxijet to pump water up and a hole was drilled in the 15 just below the rim. Used a 1" bulkhead and attached flexible hosing. Never had hair algae in main tank and nitrates stayed at 0ppm and that's with 8 fish and feeding 2-3 times daily. If you have anymore questions just ask? Good luck.

If you get stuff for the tank try to buy equipment that can be used for a bigger tank down the road because once you get your 50 up you will thinking of how you should have gone bigger. It is a vicious cycle.

To address the question of fish, a pair of ocellaris is always nice, purple firefish, royal gramma or black cap basslet, a pair of flasher wrasses would add a lot of color. The centropyges from the argi complex are a pretty safe bet in a reef so a cherub or flameback would work. You could even consider a cardinal fish for aded interest.

As long as a fish is 2/3 the size or bigger than the lion you should be fine but if the clown is half the size of the lion or smaller then he will probably end up dinner
