Any used pumps?

I have a friend that is setting up his sump this week and is in need of a return pump. For now he has a 55Gal and is going to use a 44 Gal BRUTE trashcan for his temporary sump. He has a 220Gal that he is currently builting the stand for. Once that is all setup he wants to use the 55 as his sump.

So my question is, does anyone have a used pump that he could buy that would work as a return pump once he got the 220 setup? I was looking at around 1000GPH after 4' head.

Thanks!

Hey Rose!

I have a Eheim I am not using- 2400 l/h, 120v/60Hz (standard).

Trade me corals or $$ and come trade frags with me... I'm easy

Hey Laurie

I will try to get some good pictures of the zoos we have and see if you would be interested in any frags of them. Our colonys arn't that big so they wouldn't be giant frags a few poloyps each. Our camara sucks though so I will see if any pictures come out good. A pump for trade would be awesome.

Thanks

I have a T1 pump, only rated for 540gph at 3 ft , however it is super quiet. It is my philosophy that the rate of turn over should not be from the return pump only, esp if you have a skimeer or macro algae growing in the sump. A slower return allows for more concact time for those two waste removal systems. $100

I also have a Dolphin DP 1200, rated for 18 gpm, just a tad over 1000gph. This is an inline or submersible pump and is stil in the box, never used. $90

Huh, Denise I never thought about it that way. I'll have to give it some thought. I always looked at it as the more turnover/flow you had though the refugium, you are actually getting increased contact time as the same water would cycle through more often without being as stagnant (dead spots=bad juju chemically). That way, not only does it have more contact time with macro, but it also gets passed through your filter media more often.

I like to have macro in my main tank, as well. I was counting at the media and I found 7 different types in there that I had forgotten about, pluse the nusiance varieties (hair, cyano, etc) It adds some great natural color to the tank, and allows the water to be scrubbed no matter where it is (tank or fuge). I like to feed often, so I think the macro is what allows me to do that without nuking the tank... Is also nice to to have to be able to give away to folks for free.
