Any1 using chip led without lense?

I recently bought 40w 10000k to 15000k chip led with lense, but im not happy with the spread... it drastically reduces the spread... i want to use without lense... can i jus keep it on clear acrylic or clear glass (i dont have place to hang)? Will it cause any issue?

Ill use ultra clear, that 98% clear.... if u keep acrylic or glass attached to the led chip, will there be any issue?

I have not used lenses on any of my arrays for several builds now and have not missed them.
