wuz wonderin if anyone doses nitrate to help with pale corals and what there experience was. also is stump remover from lowes exceptalble to use. i thinkits kno3
I know that certain people, especially people with coldwater systems like myself, dose nitrate and phosphate to help increase algae growth. Though this seems very odd to reefers trying to avoid algae, in some tanks macro algae is very desirable. Several companies make protects to increase these levels. Mostly these are designed for freshwater planted tanks, but they work in saltwater algae tanks as well so I don't see why they wouldn't work in a reef tank. Seachem makes a good nitrogen (nitrate) supplement. http://www.fosterandsmithaquatics.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3746+9904&pcatid=9904 But let me warn you ahead of time that you might have an algae bloom if you use this, though I am not sure.
ok thanks for the heads up.
ive been using spectracide stump remover but would definately feel more comfortable with a product designed specificaly for reef tanks.
