Anyone else having issues with this light?

Current USA Nova Extreme Pro T5 48" 6 bulb fixture

I have had the above fixture on my tank for a little over month now and to date have had 4 bulbs go out, 2 in the first week and a half and the other two today. This fixture has 3 10k and 3 actinics and all 3 10ks have died and now one of the actinics went out.

Has anyone else had an issue with this fixture or Currents bulbs?

I asked my LFS and he didn't know of any issues but said he would get with his rep so while I wait figured I would ask you guys. Is there any known issues with this fixture? This is alot of money to drop on bulbs within a month of setting the unit up especially since they claim a 12 month life span on the bulbs.

I remember reading in the Vendor feedback area about a month ago about a guy who had a Current T5 fixture and 6 of the 8 T5 bulbs were out within a month. You may want to contact Current direct. Usually their customer support is helpful in these types of situations.

Total Junk. Never had any fixture from this company last more than a month. Seriously. Some of the worst ballasts I have ever seen are attached to their lighting systems. I literally had five of these go out in under one months time.

Online companies replaced each time, but guess what, I was out the shipping cost every single time and this POS light ended up costing me about twice as much.

Stay away from current.

Well I spoke with current and, they are sending replacement bulbs, said that the bulbs may have been part of a bad batch and they felt it best to replace all six bulbs at no cost to me.

So I'll see how it goes.
I know a couple people with this fixture and none have had any major issues aside from one other having the same issue with bulbs.

I have a NOVA Ext. 72" 12 bulb fixture and it has run great for me for the last two years.

As you found out, Current is a very easy company to contact and get assistance with.

I would think the problem was with the bulbs and not the fixture.

That was my thoughts and current agreed about the bulbs.

As for the easy to contact I wish they would do live voice chat or phone customer service, I hate the pm/e-mail only set up but what can you do in todays world no one really talks to anyone else. (if you go to contact us on their website you will get an e-mail box no phone numbers to call) Though they did respond clearly, politely and promtly so can't really fault them will most likely be doing more buisness with them in the future.

I have had excellent service from Current. Replaced a bad ballast while under warranty and a broken switch while out of warranty, both at no cost to me. They are quick to respond to email and good to work with.

Do a google search on the name or call yor local store and see if they can act as a contact source for you.

I know one of the people working there and I can vouch that they are easy to do business with. LIVE!

i have 72" nova pro for 1 1/2 years runs great, one leg broke and they sent out new one without problem, great customer service. Good light fixture, better with name brand bulbs.

I owned one of the original Nova extremes for a while and had no issues at all. Same came be said of the Outer Orbit w/T5. No issues with either and no bad reports from those who purchased my fixtures from me.
Current USA has been great to me in terms of support as well. They replaced a Chiller that was a couple months out of warranty with a brand new one for absolutely no cost to me, not even shipping. Only thing wrong with the replacement unit was a couple minor scuffs/blems on the housing. The unit was brand spanking new. Thats a company going above and beyond !!!

Their stuff isnt high end but their support is excellent in my experience and from what I have seen, they have far more good, working units out there than they do lemons and a lot more happy customers than unhappy ones.

And ... I dont use any of their products at present.
