Anyone have chaeto?

I am looking for some to add to my display behind the rockwork. I am hoping it outcompetes the small patch of GHA that just showed up. Thanks.

I am curious about the notion of the chaeto outcompeting the GHA. I don't have a patch. I have a lawn of GHA. I have taken the rocks out and scrubbed them several times, but it keeps coming back. I just put some chaeto in my refugium, but I am wondering if i should put it in the display aquarium, or if it would become nuisance there? Any suggestions?

Gtownfish,

Solving the Problem may be what you need to do, rather than put a bandaid on it.Somewhere excess nutrients (Nitrates, and phosphates) are lurking.Causes, I.E. Food, Lack of Water Changes, Underskimming, try Getting it off the rocks one more time, Do a couple of 20-30% water changes, Skim pretty Wet to remove more nutrients.Keep the Cheato, in the sump preferably, it will help knock out those nutrients.

Do you rinse your frozen food before feeding?Thats probably the most common way to Introduce excess Nutrients.

what is best way to rinse food? i just put some aquarium water in a cup with the food and after it melts pour it out real slow, i still see some water in there. should i try to find a screen to pour it through?

the best way to prepare frozen foods is to put what you want the thaw in a container and add some ro water to it
when it is thawed out rinse it out in a fish net , not quite shake the net but move it in a circular motion the food will ball up then put your food back in to a container add ro water and your ready to go , do not use water from your tank there are bacteria in the water and the food will spoil faster, if you want your food saturated with salt water use new saltwater instead of ro especially if you want it to sink and not float in your tank
