posted on another site but thought maybe get diffrent answers here:

had this happen at my house tank and also at my office tank. What is weird is both tanks have other green star polops colonies that are just fine??? They all seem to open the next day. Not sure if it is a fish picing or just maybe did not like the lighting tha day. I did nothing diffrent to tank as means of wc,change media, flter sock, etc in past 2 weeks??....
I also thought hermits but to have a 12'' by 12'' colonie close is just weird.....

All level perfect ALK,Cal,mag,PH,salinity,etc
I turkey paste both colonies to make sure

my smaller colonies do that quite often when it is moved, bigger ones are always open in the daytime. Overall, very normal.

When disturbed they close up. When I first put mine in my tank it was closed for 3 or so days. One of the hardest corals to kill in my opinion. Since you said it opened back up I wouldn't worry, just happens.

Yes, I had a large colony just close up and not open for weeks. I got worried and moved it to another persons tank. It reopened and started to grow again. After awhile I returned it to my tank and it opened back up and is growing again. Who knows. Alot of people hate this coral but the neon green kind that I have is truly beautiful and is almost always the first coral guests comment on.
