Anyone have some tips for using a Nikon Coolpix L11?

I can't find the manual for my cam. I've taken hundreds of pix of my tank, a few good, the rest suck. Need tips, please!!! Thanks!

You'd probably get more information if you posted some examples.

Something else to keep in mind is that aquarium photography is challenging. You're going to have shots that don't turn out; that's normal. ;)

I just cant seen to get my white balance right and my macro sucks.

heres some examples:

Any help would be great!!!

ohh mess with the ISO under manual settings, maybe a 400 or 800. Slow down the speed but you will need a trypod to hold it steady.

Honestly you're doing pretty well with it. That's not exactly a high-end camera so you're limited in what you can do. It doesn't look like you can set a custom white balance on that camera so you have to do it after shooting.

Nearly every image can use some post-processing to help bring it out. Using Photoshop to process your image isn't cheating. Sure you can use it to deceive but that's not what we're talking about here. The camera can't see the same range of light that our eye can so sometimes it takes some processing to make the image match what we see in real life.

This is just a quick cleanup of one of your images:

See the difference?

Big difference. I'll have to try photochop. My camera does have a white balance setting, but I can't seem to figure it out.

that brain lloks nice man.

Thanks! The brain isn't looking the same right now. I get my SW from my LFS and a few weeks ago I picked up my SW went home and did a quick WC, when I had almost finnished my WC I noticed the water clouding up. Turns out they gave me all RO/DI water!

Maze went from this:

bummer about the WC

gotta check that specific gravity though man

$30 refractometer could have saved [assumingly] more than $30 in corals

I think you're doing a decent job with the pics for the equipment that you have

I always used to check out the water, but I never had a problem with it, I guess I just got lazy. I have a refractometer, though, I just didn't use it. The corals are starting to color up now. Only a little bleaching left on the maze.

I remember you posted that brain after the WC, is it getting better now? did you buy the whole thing like that or it grew that much in your tank?

The maze brain is doing much better. Only about 1/10 of it is still bleached. A couple more weeks and it'll be fine. I bought the brain just as you see it in the first pic. I think I took that pic about 3 days after i got it.
