Anyone have the Sol Whites?

Is there a big difference from the blues? some here think the sol blues are too blue.maybe the white is better?

since colors are adjustable does it matter which you get. no one seems to run them at 100% anyway, right?

I have a custom mix in my modules - I run 2 of the new gen (white) modules with a 50/50 mix of cw/cw/b (non-Sol white pucks) and cw/cw/rb (Sol white pucks). I'd like to get ahold of a few blank or burned out pucks to try and do some custom pucks. I'd like to do one per module with a cw/ww/near UV and one cw/ww/deep red. I really think this would dramatically improve the spectrum and rendition of warm, red colors.

I don't know if the white is 'better', but if you like the radium look - I think the blues are the way to go. You should be able to get nearly the same 'look' as the whites with the blues, but the intensity will be lower, of course.

Anyone have any burned-out AI pucks they want to donate to a future DIY thread?

Everyone seems to want the Sol Blues. I called around and can not find any Sol blues in stock but there seem to be a lot more Sol whites available.

I run 2 modules of Sol whites. I started with the blue 100% and the whites about 60%. I am not running at 100% and 85% for about 6 hours a day. I ramp up to that and down from that for a more blue look. I like the white look myself.

i have the sol white's 3' 3 module unit, went to it from a ATI power module 8 bulb, which i ran at around a 18k color, definately not as blue as i am use too, certain colors do not pop as well under these as compared to the t5's but i also had a nice mix on the t5's, i do plan to either add 2 t5's to this or make a custom led strip with blue, royal blue, red and maybe a orange or green

the whites are slightly higher in par, ot sayong they like either spectrum more, as i have had about same growth rates when i ran around 12 as compared to 20k, but corals and fish pop more under the closer to 20k

Both 100% incorrect as far as par. Par meters read led's at roughly 20% less then the actual par, the whites do NOT have mroe par then the blue. As far as the older sol whites or the newer sol blues there is a very simple difference. Sol whites are 2 whites to one blue while the sol blues are 1 white 1 royal blue 1 blue allowing you to create a bluer look in your tank, thats all there is.

I have to agree with RcToners on another forum a guy did a par test on both Sol Whites and Sol Blues. The Sol Whites had more par out of the water but the Sol Blues Had higher values underwater. Same aquarium same distance just different modules.

here is the thing with the blue vs white. you can durn down the blues and make them do what the whites can but you cant make the whites do what the blues can. I would personally go with the blues. But thats just me. I just ordered 8 blues last week and there is a wait on them.

guy did a test with them both so guess i was partially right and wrong, the white DO have higher par above water and slightly less below, but would love to see the test done with them dropped down some and at 50%

gonna be waiting a long time, i'm at 6 weeks now and am thinking of cancelling my order and building my own. I just wanted to add another unit to have some more White, IMO it's way too blue for me! If I cancel i'll add 8 more cool white's on C channel 4 on each side of my single module.

I also agree AI should make Custom Pucks! Maybe after they get caught up from everyone ordering modules at the same time they can work on some other color options. Really how many people order regular Blue led's from RapidLed compared to Royal Blue? Not many at all.
