Anyone keep multiple Purple Tangs in same tank?

I would like to add 3 purple tangs at same time to my 210g as my final fish.....just wondering if they will group together or will the dominant one attack the other two?

I honestly think a 210g is a little small for 3 purples. I have 3 in my 400 and I think I was fairly lucky - they fought at first with the other tangs in the tank more than themselves...they each have a fairly large territory in the tank.

What else do you have in there?

you might be able to get away with it have not heard of any long term success but i've seen groups of purples kept in tanks for a lil while one of my lfs does it time to time for weeks until they sell off..

woo wooo pull ova ova lmao

haha

I have a purple in my 55, he's a baby under 2 inches. I think it would entirely depend on the size of the tangs. Full grown tangs or show tangs over 6 or 8 inches could be pushing it. In a 400 even. If you got small or juvs you could do it. Thats my

I tried 2 in a 110. It didn't pan out. I know three people who have two purples in their tanks, but none is smaller than a 110 and both fish were very small and introduced at the same time. Talk to your LFS and ask them if you can try it, often they will let you give the fish back for some store credit.

Mine were all under an inch when they were put in. They are about 2.5-3 inches now.

Aggression is almost nil except when one of them seems to get a particularly nice looking piece of nori. :)

in a 525 and your still having issues? Maybe I am at a loss wouldn't that be over 9ft of swimming room?? I guess you might have full grown tangs then no?

Purple was in main first. I had to catch the purple and put it in the sump for 3 days. It went crazy on the 3 yellows when I added them. After the yellows had 3 days to adjust I put the purple back in. It chased them for about 30 minutes then just started cruzing with them.

I started my tank off (october)with 10 postage stamp purple tangs. It was cool, but as they grew b/c they are such active swimmers it was visually "crowded" to me so I fished out 8 of 'em about 2 mos ago. At that time they would shoal and stuff. It was neat. They went from postage stamp to 3" pretty fast BTW (6 mos or so. Growth is slower now). I have 2 now and they flare at each other occasionally but certainly nothing bad. I recently added 2 desjardins without incident. The other 8 went into a similarly sized FOWLR with no probs.
