anyone kept a snowflake eel in an open top tank?

ive heard of them jumping, one of my friends lost one due to factory closed lid. (the cheap ones you get with the tank) it was stuck to the carpet one morning. REEF-ON!!!

I have before. If they have plenty of places to hide and get enough food they dont seem to jump as much, but every once in a while you still gotta check the floor

All three eels I have kept have been in open topped tanks. The first couple days seem to be when they will jump, if they get established then they seem to do fine. A good size eel (24") seems to be able to hang out on the ground for about 8 hours or more. It happened to one when he first got put into the tank. He looked like eel jerky, but when I put him back in he came around after a couple days.

they have been known to. smaller fishes are at risk while they sleep during the night while larger fish are usually left alone. snowflakes mostly eat crustaceans
