Anyone know what happened to Millers Reef?

I used to stop in bloomsburg at Miller's reef a couple times a year. I went through there the other day and it was a tanning salon or something.

Does anyone know if they still exist and where they might have moved to, or what happened?

Thats what I figured. I just wondered if they had moved. But I guess not. Thanks.

I dont suppose there is anything comparable in Williamsport, or in the surrounding area?

When I talked to Miller last (close to six months ago), he said he was going to reopen in a new location in the Bloomsburg area. I don't know if he gave up on that or not.

Geeze that sucks . Perhaps a group order from some where . Bob hasnt been ordering much and pets and you did not get salt back but are supose to be "working" on it

I would be surprised to see Miller's open again. The younger of the two cousins seemed to get further and further out of the business while it was still operating. I think the business was hard on their relationship and he flew the coup before the other cousin officially called it quits.
The older cousin had a child close to when the store was closing down. I would imagine the financial strains of a failing business on top of the new responsibilities of being a dad were quite a bit to handle.
These two young men had quite a few things go wrong for them over the years that they were in business. It was hard for them to really catch a break. I'd be surprised to see them start a shop up again for awhile just due to this compounded stress that they were feeling. We all know it's hard for the small LFSs to make it. I've seen quite a few come and go in my time in the hobby.

Which makes it all that much harder to see them go . Problem is selection( they did NOT have a great selection the last time I was there it was my first and last trip to thier store) and drive for some one who has a nano I could only get one or 2 things the one time I was there :( If you dont have a great selection all the time , and good pricing you wont bring in much in the way of business . I know that money is tight all the way around but if you only stock a few items you cant expect "booming" business ...but it is harder and harder for customers to "part" with thier money if it is not "perfectly" what they want

I wish that I had read this before buying a metal halide ballast off their web site. I bought the ballast on August 22nd. It is now September 12th, and I've not received the ballast, and e-mails to Millersreef are not being responded to. They accepted my money just fine. I have the PayPal receipt to prove it. I'm starting to think that I got screwed. Great.

I'd suggest contacting Beyond the Reef. The Millers seem to be helping the owner to set up that store. They'd know how to get ahold of the Millers to get your money back.

Thanks Murph72. I'll do that. The lousy part is that I really wanted that 70W MH ballast. I think thast it was a PFO leftover named something else. It looked nice. :(

I can't believe the website is still up and running and taking orders...the store has been long gone for quite some time now. Hopefully you'll be able to easily get your money back. I just saw one of the Millers a week or two ago, so they're still in the area. They shouldn't be too hard to find.

yeah, talk to Brent at beyond the reef, he can get what you're looking for. i must say the new store is turning out to be better than the old.

I called today without luck.

I called today without luck.

Their hours are Friday through Sunday. I'll try again on Friday.

I'm blown away by the fact that someone would accept payment and then fail to respond to follow-up correspondence in an effort to resolve the issue. Very sad indeed.

i tried to check the site to see if it was still working but i can't remember the name of it lol

Lou, Brent sent me a message yesterday and told me of the situation. I refunded the money and am working to take the site down. Before I left the store, I was working on an online store. When I left, I terminated the site, but for some unknown reason, it was never taken down. I apologize for any inconvenience!!!!! I had no idea there was a site, or that the old store paypal account was still working either. If there is any problems, email me milla45@verizon.net Please, let me know the site name, so that I can take it down.
Thanks!

I'm closing this thread by stating that Scott returned my money in full a week ago.
