Is there anyone in Birmingham or the surrounding areas that raises either of these?
I am going to be raising seahorse fry soon and need a starter culture of these two.
Anyone?
Can I use some DT phyto that is refrigerated?

Phillip,
What do you feed your rotifers if not phyto?
Would you be willing to part with a starter culture of rotifers ?
You are very local to me.

Philip,

You mean roti-rich?
Roti-rich works well and less time consuming than growing your own live phyto, although it's much less crash prone if you feed live phyto.

OK, another question:
I know I can start my phyto culture from DTs Phytoplankon, but
can I start my phytoplankon culture from Kent Marine PhytoMax?

The web site says, "A highly-concentrated suspension of Nannochloropsis, Tahitian Isochrysis, and Tetralselmis, contains over 12 billion cells per ml (~1.2 billion cells per drop). Rich in EPA, DHA, and amino acids for maximum benefit to marine invertebrates. Size range of phytoplankton (2-15 µm collectively) is optimal for feeding a wide range of filter-feeders. Properly preserved, contains no alcohol; Requires no refrigeration or freezing!"

I assume I can feed rotifers with this, but will this work to start my phyto-growing as well?

I don't think that you can start a culture from Kent Marine's product. It's "preserved" and not live. You need live cells to start a culture, not the dead preserved one.

you may want to look into hatching brine shrimp eggs since the primary purpose is to feed your baby seahorse.
