anyone use the scwd device?

Hi Jess,
I used one on my current tank for almost a year.I had it hooked to a mag 12 pump(my return).I think they are great for the price. You will loose some flow, due to back pressure, but I don't think it is as much as some suggest.I would try & improvise some type of fine screen over the intake of your pump,to prevent any tiny particles getting drawn into the SCWD.During the last couple of months of use,I did see the output fall considerably-I probably needed to do a vinegar soak to remove deposits.I was switching to a Redsea wavemaker,so never got around to it.All-in-all,I think very good product.I have a brand new one sitting around if you're interested in getting one.You can have the old one for free,if you want to just hook it up & see what you think.HTH,regards,Darcy

i'll take the old one and give it a try if you don't mind. I only want to try it for a small frag tank i'm setting up. if i like it then i'll follow up regarding the new one. i'll bring you some type of frag at least for the old one. if you are gonna be at the party i'll bring it for you there.
thanks,
jess

Hi Jess,I'm going to try & make it Tuesday-work is crazy right now,as we're trying to get enough done,so we can shut down over Christmas week.I'll shoot you a PM hopefully Monday night,as I may have an idea by then.If you can spare a small frag of those tri-color zoas for the old SCWD,I'd be very grateful.I'll be in touch,Darcy

i use it in my setting... it is hooked up to my return and provides all the flow for the tank... ive got a quiet one 3000 going through it and it switches every 6 seconds or so pushing almost 600 gph out of each side...

it works, but if i could afford it i would avoid it all together and get somethig that can switch the flow faster without the reduction in flow that you get from a scwd, but its cheap and it works....
