Anyone willing to show their QT setup?

My QT is a used 55 I picked up a while ago. I keep bioballs in a filter bag in my main tank. When I need to use the QT I'll transfer the bioball bag to the 55. I'll use the refugium below to house any fish that don't get along.

wow quite the setup for a QT.

How do you prevent nitrates from forming with the bioballs in your main tank most of the time?

I don't have a pic but I have a barebottom 20g long that has a few pieces of pvc pipe for fish cover and an Aquaclear hang on back filter. I keep some bioballs and a sponge in my sump and when I get a fish for QT I put them in the filter for biofitration. I have a simple light which I only turn on for observing the fish and feeding.

I'm not really concerned about nitrates. I'm much more concerned about ammonia and nitrite, which the bioballs will take care of. Any nitrate build up will be handled by frequent water changes. Also, I'm running some macro algae in the refugium wich will help remove nitrates as well. The protien skimmer will remove some of the dissolved organics before they have a chance to break down any further. This will be extremely beneficial in keeping the water clean. I personally wouldn't QT a large tang in a small tank with a HOB filter. Just seems risky, but people do it.

Qt ...what qt is there such a thing as qt.. ok now here is what i have... a 10g, a 20g, two 29g's a 55g and a 75g.. i have some fake rocks, hob filters and air pumps .. i keep a spoge in the sump of all my display tanks for use in the hob filters.. which tank i use depends on what fish iam qt ing

I have a 29 gallon with live rock, live sand, remora pro skimmer, heater, maxijet powerhead and mini light.

I also have a 10 gallon hospital tank with aquaclear hangon with sponge from dt, heater and minijet 404 for medicating.

I am currently using a 20L for a QT. It is bare bottom with some PVC pipe for hiding. Aquaclear filter that I keep the bio media in the main tank's sump and run the pump with the filter pad on the main tank for a full day before putting it into the QT. This should help build the bacteria on the pad to help with ammonia.

I am actually thinking of adding a small box with holes in it for Chaeto to help with water parameters as well. The stuff grows like weeds in the fuge so I might as well use some.

I had a 10G that I used to use but it cracked on the bottom. That's why I have the 20L now. Thanks Petco for the $1/gallon sale...:)
