Anyone with 10 footer ?

I am getting a 10 x 3 x 30" tall acrylic tank. Thy're made with all 3/4" Acrylic.

I am aware than all acrylic does have a slight bow, my question is what's acceptable ?

I want to hear your input, if you have a 10 footer please post with

Your tank's height
Your tank's acrylic thickness

Measure your width of the tank at the end and at the center, how much are you off by ?

Sounds amazing! I wanted to get a 10 foot tank too but it costs so much more than an 8footer that I decided to pass. Then I found a great deal on a used 8 footer so I ended up going for that.

When I was initially pricing out the tanks they were going to be either 96x20x25 or 120x20x25. I was told by James at Envision Acrylics that 3/4" was the correct thickness for minimal bowing. I'm not sure what he would say about a 30" tall tank. Maybe he would think 3/4" is fine but maybe he would recommend 1". I would probably go thicker considering the length and height or just make it less tall.

my 10 footer is 30in all the way down, doesn't bow a 1/4 in & it's made out of 3/4 in acrylic. O yea, I don't have water in it yet either :)

I did 10x30x30..... long frustrating story but the short of it is I asked the soon to be wife can I go 36in deep since at 36in it would sit out enough to be flush with the wall that sticks out on one end. She said no & stick with 120x30x30. So the tank arrived & we were talking (she's a interior designer) & she said why don't we push the tank out 6in from the wall so it's flush with the other wall........ AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

About to start digging my pond so the tank will be sitting empty for another few weeks

Miracles (who also make acrylic) make a 120x24x30 with 3/4" and their 120x24x36 is 1". So it seems as if the change up to the thicker acrylic comes someplace between 30-36" in height.

LOL sorry I had to chuckle ;)

unfortunantly the "AHHHHHHHHH" doesn't quite do justice to how I felt :wildone:

Anyways, the 36in heigth would definantly need more thickness then a 30in tall tank however depth doesn't affect the thickness nearly as much.

Going 1in would be ideal if you had the funds.... but 3/4 should have minimal bow. I went with a manufacturer who uses 3/4in & also gave me a lifetime warrante on the tank

If your tank bows 1/4" EMPTY, what do you think will happen when it's filled with water ?

It should NOT bow empty, it may bow 1/8" when it's full of water.

Who manufacture it?

My chuckle was because it's ironic that your wife agreed with your first idea after the fact. I wasn't trying to laugh at the fact that you were disappointed. Hope it didn't come off that way.

obviously the tank doesn't bow at all since it's empty & there is no force pushing it out. Sorry to mislead......

yea, I think that was the 2nd time she agreed with me or maybe it was the first/last :) I know what you meant.... it's all good :)

i just had a local guy build me a sump for my 320 gallon to see how the seam and everythin is. if everythin is good im goin to have him build a 120 x 48 x 30 for the shop and 120 x 36 x 30 for my office at home. he will be using 1" all around and 3/4 for top and bottom. both tank together was under 15k but i would go with 1" on my 320 84 x 30 x 30 i went with 3/4 all around and 1/2 for top and bottom
